This was a “work people” evening. I had wanted to have Robin & Paul over for dinner and decided to invite Raquel & Aaron as well. Robin and Raquel know each other, and it turned out to be a very nice evening.
We sat outside in The Grotto, which was a great. The weather was cool but not cold and with the lights we have set up and the portable stereo, it was really perfect.
- Grilled game hens
- Watermelon-Jicama salad (PCI recipe)
- Sauteed asparagus & sugar snap peas
- Pita chips (homemade)
- Créme brulee
- Robin & Paul Maccan
- Raquel & Aaran Joseph
Craig got the propane tank refilled, but when re-attaching the valve, it broke. The replacement from Home Depot didn’t work and we were running out of time, so we ended up borrowing Steve & Gail’s grill. It was so nice that they let us use it, but honestly? It didn’t work as well as ours. Even at the correct temperature, it took much longer to finish the game hens and the skin just wasn’t as crispy.
I didn’t really like the watermelon-jicama sald. It was much better in my cooking class. For me, it was really disappointing.
